Free IT audit

We’ll audit your IT setup. Free. Honest report. No sales pitch.

A written PDF report on what you’re paying for vs. what you’re getting. Network gaps, backup gaps, compliance gaps, dollar amounts where we can calculate them. Yours to keep whether you switch to us or not.

15-minute scoping call to start. No card, no commitment.

What the audit covers

Eight areas. Yes, including your current IT contract.

Reading your contract line by line is the part most prospects are most curious about and most nervous to share. Nothing leaves the engagement.

  • A-01

Your current IT contract, line by line

What you are paying for, what you are actually getting, what is buried in the fine print. Whoever runs your IT today, whether that is a managed service provider (MSP) or one person you call, this is the single most expensive item in most small-business IT.

  • A-02

    Network architecture

Firewall settings, whether traffic is separated onto its own networks, Wi-Fi coverage and security, and whether remote access is set up safely. We diagram what you actually have, not what the original install doc said.

  • A-03

How well your computers are protected

Whether updates are installed on a schedule, whether laptops are encrypted, whether antivirus is actually running everywhere, who has administrator rights they should not have, password rules, and whether two-step login is really switched on.

  • A-04

    Backup setup

Does it exist? Is it fresh? Has it been tested? Is the offsite copy locked so that even an attacker with your passwords cannot delete it? Four questions - and if any answer is "not sure," that is a finding.

  • A-05

    Compliance gaps

HIPAA, PCI, SOC 2, FINRA - as applicable. Signed vendor agreements on file, policies signed, evidence kept, and whether your risk analysis is still current. What an auditor would flag.

  • A-06

    Vendor inventory

Every SaaS subscription, every recurring tool, every shadow-IT login someone signed up for with a credit card. Cost totals and consolidation opportunities.

  • A-07

    User access review

Who has admin to what. Former employees still in directories. Shared logins that nobody owns. The audit your insurance carrier increasingly wants annually.

  • A-08

    Hardware end-of-life inventory

Every server, switch, firewall, and access point with model, age, warranty status, and replacement window. The thing nobody updates until the day it dies.

What you get back

Five deliverables. All yours. All in writing.

The audit ends when you have a document on your laptop and a one-pager you can hand to leadership. Not when we tell you we’ve “finished the analysis” in an email.

  • 01

    Written PDF report

10-15 pages. Findings, evidence, screenshots where applicable. The document you can read on your own time and forward to your CFO without us in the room.

  • 02

    30-minute review call

Your team plus ours, walking through the report. Questions, clarifications, what we recommend in priority order. Target: scheduled within a week of report delivery.

  • 03

    Prioritized risk register

High / medium / low for every finding. Sorted so the things that could cost you money or pass an audit failure are at the top, cosmetic stuff at the bottom.

  • 04

    Cost-savings opportunities

Specific dollar amounts where we can calculate them: duplicate software subscriptions, contract line items that overlap with features already included in Microsoft 365, unused licenses, contract terms ready for renegotiation.

  • 05

    One-page leadership summary

For the board or the partners. The whole audit distilled to one page with three findings, three numbers, and three recommendations. Useful even if you do nothing else.

What it costs

Free. No hidden hooks. No card on file.

The reportYours to keep

We do it because we expect a close read of most small-business IT setups to surface at least one meaningful cost-saving opportunity, and we’re confident enough in the comparison to put it in writing for free.

No, you don’t have to switch. Some businesses we audit will stay with their current MSP, and that’s fine. Doing this honestly is how we intend to earn the ones who do switch: on facts instead of pressure.

How long it takes

Three steps. Done in under a month.

Design target

The audit runs on your calendar, not ours. Thirty days is the target we scope every audit to land inside.

  1. 01

    Scoping call

    15 min, this week

We learn your size, stack, and what you want the audit to focus on. We confirm the audit fits (we do not audit single-person businesses or 500-person enterprises). You confirm you want to proceed.

  2. 02

    Site visit + remote review

4-8 hours of our time, over 2-3 weeks

One on-site half-day to see the gear, talk to your team, and walk the network. The rest is remote: contract review, config exports, vendor inventory, evidence collection. You set the pace, we work around your operations.

  3. 03

    Report delivery + review call

Target: within 30 days of scoping

PDF report and one-page summary in your inbox. Thirty-minute review call scheduled in the same week. After the call, the report is yours - to act on, to file, to send to your insurance carrier.

What we promise (and don’t)

Both columns matter equally.

If “free audit” usually means “trojan-horse sales pitch,” here is what we’re explicitly not doing.

What we promise

  • An honest written report, regardless of what we find or what you decide to do with it.
  • No upsell pressure in the report itself - findings stand on their own, recommendations are separate.
  • A direct recommendation to stay with your current MSP if that is actually the right call.
  • BAA and NDA signed before any data leaves your environment. Standard for us.
  • A one-page summary your board or partners can read without IT vocabulary in the way.

What we don’t promise

  • We don't promise to undercut your current MSP on price - if they're cheaper, we'll tell you.
  • We don't fix anything during the audit - it is diagnostic, not remediation. Fixes come later (and not always from us).
  • We don't sell you on a monthly plan during the review call - the proposal, if any, comes separately, in writing, the following week.
  • We don't share the report with anyone outside MesaVerse - not vendors, not anyone, not ever.
  • We don't guarantee findings. If your setup is solid, the report will say so in writing.

FAQ

The questions worth asking

Plain answers. No hedging. If “it depends,” we tell you what it depends on.

No. The report is yours regardless of what you decide. If your current MSP is doing right by you, the audit will say so and we will tell you on the review call. If they are not, you have a written document that makes the conversation with them (or their replacement) much easier.
We work around it. The audit is diagnostic, not action - reading your current contract is part of what you are paying us nothing for. Most MSP contracts have a 30-90 day termination notice. If you decide to move, we time the start of any work to your termination window. We will never ask you to break a contract.
No. The report stays between you and the MesaVerse team that ran it. It does not go to sales templates, marketing materials, blog posts, or competitive analysis. NDA signed at the scoping call if you want it formal. We treat the contents the same way a CPA treats your tax return.
Yes, even though it is free. We can issue a $0 statement of work that documents the engagement, the scope, and the deliverables - useful for HIPAA Security Rule Risk Analysis evidence, SOC 2 control mapping, or a board governance file. If you would rather have the audit show up as a line item in your cyber-risk budget, we can issue a paid SOW instead - $1,500-$3,500 is the typical engagement range, and the final price is set in your SOW. Either is fine.
5-200 employees is the sweet spot. Below 5, the audit is usually overkill - you would be better off with a 30-minute consult. Above 200, the scope expands enough that we charge for it as a project: $5,000-$10,000 is the typical engagement range, with the final price fixed in your SOW. If you are not sure where you fit, the 15-minute scoping call answers it for you.
